The rope soft shackle.
An indespinsable item which allows you to create an emergency recovery point when one is not fitted.
The rope soft shackle is a circular loop with a retainer closing it for use. The rope soft shackle point is fed through the loop of the pull strap then around a suitable structural point on the vehicle, it is then closed as the retainer is fed through the eye of the rope and slack is taken up. The rope soft shackle can also be used to join two similar straps if a recovery limk is not presant.
Please note; there should be no kinks in the rigging of a rope soft shackle or the pull strap. No bow or D shackles should be used in the set up, as they are potentially dangerous in the event of a failure. As with all recoveries full safety procedures would be followed and recovery safety blankets should be used. The rope soft shackle can go through a standard recovery eye on but caution should be taken as most recovery eyes have sharp edges.
