After a recovery – taking care of your equipment
Some 4×4 outlets are selling very low priced snatch straps. The packaging gives the impression of a quality product however from the description it is apparent that the product is a cheap ‘knock off’ which will let customers down. The packaging states that the snatch strap is manufactured from polyester webbing. Polyester is a low elongation material and should never be used in the manufacturing of snatch straps or ropes.
SECURETECH uses nylon/polyamide for our Kinetic Snatch Strap and Kinetic Ropes as this provides the best performance & durability. SECURETECH tow straps and tie downs, which do not require elongation are manufactured from polyester.
On close inspection of the cheap ‘knock off’ snatch straps there is no indication as to what the factor of safety is for the straps. This is leading to much confusion among suppliers and customers.

Only use rated Alloy Recovery Bow Shackles during a recovery
Unrated ‘d’ shackles should not be used during a recovery as the shackle is not designed to withstand the stresses and angle of the forces during a recovery. Only use rated alloy recovery bow shackles.
